ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Averro is seeking multiple mechanical Design Tooling Engineers, of any level, for one of our exciting space exploration companies! You will specifically be responsible for the design, analysis, and tooling through development for space launch vehicles!
- Design and manage tooling through development and build life cycle to support production.
- Perform analysis (Hand Calculations & FEA) to support tooling design
- Create a Statement of Works ( SOW) for tooling to be designed and built by external vendors.
- Design of Concept CAD models using PTC Creo.
- Review and approve drawings for drawing standards and manufacturability.
- Develop and approve design specifications, performance specifications, fabrication specifications, acceptance test procedures, and maintenance plans, for the development of GSE.
- Manage external design and fabrication partners through the complete project lifecycle (requirements gathering through delivery and acceptance) to ensure GSE is functionally correct and meets requirements set forth in specifications.
- Represent GSE considerations in manufacturing, operational, and program technical reviews
- Oversee equipment fabrication, assembly, and installation.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree
- Design Engineer III: 5-7+ years of experience
- Design and integration of mechanical systems (mechanisms, power transmission components, hydraulics, fluids systems, etc.), electrical systems/components, control systems, support frames/structures, and/or lifting fixtures.
- Design of GSE for production, manufacturing, and testing of launch vehicles and launch vehicle support systems.
- Proven ability to drive complex projects to completion
- Experience with CAD modeling and drawings in PTC Creo.
- Experience with revision control and data configuration in Windchill.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- FEA Analysis and hand calculations of structural and mechanical components.
- Experience working on aerospace development programs, production lines, or field operations in both design and hands-on roles; experience in commercial development programs is a plus.
- Experience with design specification, procurement, operation, and maintenance of GSE.
- Experience with multiple CAD packages, Catia, SolidWorks, etc.
- Hands-on fabrication, assembly, or maintenance experience.
