The Senior Analyst, IT Project & Program Management role resides within the IT Core Tech Project and Program Management team and is responsible for providing best practice guidance, documentation, and metrics related to practices involved in managing projects within Air Canada’s IT organization. 
This role will support ongoing projects within the IT Core Tech portfolio by working closely with the project managers, overseeing the processes and tools for regular project updates as well as driving data integrity and reporting.

This role reports to the Manager, IT Project & Program Management

FUNCTIONAL ACCOUTABILITIES

  • Responsible for working within all stages of project management, primary role being to work closely with project managers to ensure compliance to budgeting, scheduling and project management processes.
  • Provides recommendations to improve planning, implementation and tracking of projects against proposed schedule and deliverables; review end to end project governance, including measurement of objectives & metrics.
  • Conducts regular compliance reviews to ensure that projects are operating in line with the project management gating framework.  Compliance reviews will consider the following 4 areas: 
    • Project governance
    • Alignment to project management gating framework
    • Financial management
    • Communication management 
  • Utilizes various review methodologies such as interviews, detailed document assessments and controls validation to determine compliance with project governance requirements.  
  • Reviews project governance execution to ensure critical project management artifacts have been completed such as business cases, project charters, baseline plans, change requests, status reports, milestones, RACI achievements, benefits, internal/external resource plans, vendor management plans & KPIs etc.
  • Reviews project governance execution to ensure that the following reviews are in place: project status & progress reviews, RAID reviews, steering committee reviews.
  • Develops compliance reports that detail non-compliances and assign prioritizations based for size, risk and impact.  Work with project owners to recommend, develop and implement acceptable remediation plans.
  • Ensures that stakeholder analysis has been completed and that effective communication models are in place to meet stakeholders needs.
  • Escalates high risk non-compliances in an effective and timely manner.
  • Drive monthly / quarterly project compliance reporting to support overall IT Services reporting framework.
  • Provides input to the relevant stakeholders on Project Management skills gaps noted through compliance reviews. 

Qualifications

  • Relevant University degree/technical certification. 
  • 6-8 years of IT technology, operations and people leadership experience in a large company.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project/Program Management principles and financial management (including Waterfall and Agile Methodology).
  • Certification in Project Management by a recognized project management organization preferred.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, communicate succinctly and efficiently, build consensus and handle complex projects in similar environments.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and high complexity.
  • High proficiency in MS Office 365 Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Must be able work with minimal supervision; self-motivated and results oriented.
