Responsibilities

The Senior Analyst, Safety Data provides data analytics and insights to support Safety initiatives and strategy. As an Analyst, you will support management requests for information to make operational decisions, proactively identify performance trends, and offer recommendations. In this role, you will use your data and analytical skills to inform the team and influence our stakeholders.

 

  • Collect, analyze, monitor, and report on operational safety trends based on analysis of relevant data at an aggregate level.
  • Develop dashboards and automated reporting related to key safety performance metrics.
  • Build data visualization by leveraging existing tools, as well as providing ongoing enhancements to business dashboards.
  • Design, develop, and distribute safety information in a visually compelling manner to Operational Leaders.
  • Identify appropriate data sources, analyze data, perform trend analysis, present findings, and make recommendations in response to current safety concerns and in support of policy and process development.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of all report data, including Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA), the Safety Reporting team, IT operational data, and other data sources.
  • Performs all additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Manager of Safety Analysis.
  • Administrator of Spirit Airlines compliance and audit software applications.
  • Analysis and statistical testing (including correlation analysis and machine learning) of all Operational Division QA (ODQA) data in support of Division Safety Leader Safety Risk Evaluation and IEP Comprehensive Evaluation.
  • Data management and visualization (dashboarding) of all company operational division quality data.
  • Facilitate and administer the Safety Data Action Committee.
  • Support the ability of Spirit Airlines to accomplish machine learning-based predictive analysis using the Python application.
  • Ability to provide key safety risk insights proactively or predictively to Safety management for early intervention and/or prevention of operational incidents or accidents.
  • Provide direct support to Operational Division Safety Leaders to understand hazards and risks within their respective operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. (Business Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or Data Science)
  • Masters Degree Preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in Business Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or Data Science. (A combination of education and experience is acceptable.)
  • Experience with Python or similar machine learning lanugaues preferred.
  • Superior working knowledge with a variety of data visualization programs including Power Bi, Tableau, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in an environment with multiple competing deadlines.
  • Able to gather and use relevant data to measure effectiveness and identify status, patterns, issues, trends, and root causes. Uses data to develop solutions.
  • Shares data-based insights powerfully and simply to create a shared understanding and commitment to action/solution.
  • Domestic & International travel under 10 of time.
  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • Hybrid.
