Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs the tasks of functional testing, troubleshooting and repairing avionics systems on board the aircraft at a Textron Aviation Service Center. This position requires travel within the specific region. When not traveling, will be working at the designated Service Center.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and performs the more difficult functional testing, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, calibration and modification of avionics and electrical systems on board the aircraft in accordance with FAA procedures.
    • Based on in-flight analysis and/or evaluation of information received from the customer, diagnoses problems and takes corrective action.
    • Acts as crew leader to assist a crew of 1 to 5 technicians in troubleshooting an avionics/electrical system problem to a defective unit or wiring discrepancy.
    • Works from Textron Aviation schematics, blueprints, service bulletins and vendor information.
    • Responsible for the final testing of avionics/electrical equipment and signing a release form in the aircraft logbook for same. Requires FAA Repairman Certificate.
    • Ensures all transmitting and receiving equipment (includes pulse equipment) complies with all applicable FCC rules and regulations.
  • As required, debriefs customer on avionics/electrical discrepancies and has frequent contact with customer requiring courtesy, good judgment and tact in resolving avionics/electrical problems and customer complaints.
  • Based on in-flight analysis and/or evaluation of information received from the customer, diagnoses problems and takes corrective action.
  • Troubleshoots problems to defective units or wiring discrepancies.
  • Replaces defective units, repairs wiring and modifies aircraft as required.
  • As required, accompanies pilot in flight to functional test repaired systems and/or aligned systems.
  • Works from aircraft orders, wiring diagrams, oral and written instructions to perform job duties.
  • Responsible for guiding and instructing lower classification helpers 50 or more of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Security Badge through the local airport authority (if applicable).
Job Requirements:

EDUCATION:

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Requires use of arithmetic, blueprints, and specifications plus knowledge of jet and piston airframe and engine principles. Must have comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of diversified experience in aircraft avionics systems, troubleshooting and repair.
