JOB TITLE: Airframe Parachute Systems Senior Engineer

LOCATION: Duluth, MN; Chandler AZ; McKinney TX

SALARY: $100,000 - $150,000 per year.

Summary:

    Interface with other aircraft disciplines, including structural and electrical disciplines, across the Aircraft platforms.

    Work with a multi-discipline team on advanced parachute system design development.

    Identify, select, and coordinate with suppliers.

    Active involvement in development and certification of parachute systems under FAR Part 23.

    Manage suppliers on a weekly cadence for technical deliverables by hosting weekly meetings, creating agendas and facilitating action/issue tasks.

    Research industry guidance documents for best practices, e.g. SAE, ASTM.

    Create 3D models and drawings of parachute systems in Creo.

    Author and check documents including test plans and reports, certification reports, and other engineering documents.

    Perform trade studies involving weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.

    Conduct ground, lab and flight testing of parachute components and systems.

    Travel to testing sites and supplier locations as required.

    Must have strong written and verbal communication skills on technical issues and have a high level of initiative to fill gaps when necessary.

    Complete project assignments and take responsibility for designs and design outcomes.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Teams).

Minimum Qualifications:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

    Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.

    6-8 years of engineering experience.

    Experience working on or with parachutes.

    Experience with extraction systems.

    Experience with textiles.

    Experience with Windchill PDM and Creo/Pro-E.

    Familiarity with SAE ARP4754A & ARP4761 guidelines and procedures and ASTM standards.

    Experience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under any of 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/33/35/36 or equivalent regulations.

    Familiarity with DO-160 environmental testing.

Required Skills:

    Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language

    Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Chief Engineers and management peer groups.

    Out of the box thinking to deliver required technical solutions to meet program goals.

    Show initiative and ability to work in absence of a defined process.

    Excellent technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Sound judgement and decision-making skills.

    Able to work with program managers and project leaders to develop and hold accountability to schedules.

    Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks.
