Southern California Global Design Center is currently seeking Mid-level and Senior Avionics Engineers to become part of our Global Services Engineering team in Long Beach, California.  As a Avionics Engineer, you will work with customers to develop electronic and electrical system requirements, analyzing and translating those requirements into system architecture, hardware / software designs and interface specifications. You will also test and validate to ensure the system designs meet operational and functional requirements across the full breadth of Boeing Commercial aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements

  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of full time aerospace industry experience within Avionics, Electrical, Software, or Electro-Magnetic Effects

  • Willing to travel up to 10

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Senior (Level 4): 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 1+ years of experience leading engineering teams

  • 5+ years of experience in avionics design and analysis engineering

  • Experience supporting aircraft production, development, and/or sustainment program(s)

  • Experience working directly with Boeing customers and/or suppliers

  • Experience in FAA certification or airworthiness

  • Experience with Commercial Engineering, Mods and Maintenance (EMM) products

Typical Education & Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary pay range (Mid-level - level 3): $102,850 - $139,150

Summary pay range (Senior - level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
