The role we are offering you:

CAEu2019s Global IT department is looking for a motivated individual to join us as Director, Clouds Operations to help us deliver world class operation of both mission critical solutions to our airline customers and internal corporate applications. Are you ready to:

Build and lead a team of experts responsible for:

  • Bringing together worldwide operations under one entity that follows the site reliability engineering (SRE) method.

  • Managing the operations architecture focused on optimizing the infrastructure and processes to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of our systems and services.

  • The resiliency and reliability engineering efforts that include designing and implementing strategies to enhance the robustness and dependability of our systems to ensure uninterrupted service availability.

  • Cloud optimization, cloud capacity planning and engineering, involving the meticulous management of our cloud resources to maximize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability while also engineering solutions to meet our evolving capacity needs in the cloud environment.

  • Leading the performance and load test engineering efforts that includes designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests to ensure our systems met optimal performance standards, effectively handling high loads and providing a seamless user experience.

  • Developing and execute strategic plans for operational excellence, aligning them with business objectives and ensuring the reliability and performance of critical systems.u202F

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, platform engineering, and infrastructure, to identify and prioritize areas for improvement in system reliability, scalability, and performance.u202F

  • Defining and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the responsibilities of the organization.

  • Staying up to date with related emerging technologies and industry trends and drive their adoption to enhance system performance and efficiency.u202F

  • Fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team and across the organization.u202Fu202F

  • Driving the business continuity plans for applications under your responsibility. Define, implement, and rehearse appropriate disaster recovery plans and strategies.u202F

  • Managing relationships with technology vendors, negotiating contracts, and evaluating vendor performance to ensure adherence to service level agreements and contractual obligations.u202F

  • Collaborating with the security and compliance teams to develop and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.u202F

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.u202F

  • More than 12 years of relevant experience in the field.

  • Extensive experience in SRE or related roles, with a focus on managing large-scale systems and infrastructure.u202F

  • Five or more years of leadership responsibilities, including strategy, budgeting, and staffing.u202F

  • Experience in leading managers with teams spread between several time zones.u202F

  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate a vision that inspires and motivates employees.u202F

  • Ability to build consensus, make decisions based on many variables, and gain support for major initiatives.u202Fu202F

  • Maximizing effectiveness of nearshore / offshore resource modelsu202F

  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skillsu202F

  • Strong oral communication and written presentation communication skills.u202F

  • In-depth knowledge of SRE methodologies, principles, and best practices.u202F

  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.u202F

  • High level understanding of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.u202F

  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar.u202F
