Engineer, IPT - Structural Analysis  (Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Support the Lead Engineer of the structural analysis team and the overall product development Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the structural analysis discipline. The person in this position will be responsible for performing stress analysis for new and derivative designs of FAA Part 23 aircraft structures and other related activities. This includes review of Engineering drawings, preparing load calculations and writing substantiation reports.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Perform preliminary analysis on Marketing ideas and concepts effecting the aircraft structure and /or weight in coordination with FAA regulations

Build Finite Element Models to determine internal loads, locate stress concentrations and perform analysis on components

Perform static strength assessment, fatigue life assessment, and damage tolerance assessment using both manual analysis and finite / boundary element analysis modeling

Support the preparation of aircraft type certification reports showing compliance with the appropriate FAA regulations covering structural strength, crash protection, interiors item, basic loads, weight balance, fatigue life, and flight test instrumentation

Collaborate with other disciplines within the IPT and other company support groups

Support the execution of static or fatigue tests of structural components, prepare test procedures, observe and document static or fatigue test results

Review drawings, specifications, service bulletins, reports, etc. as required for determination of compliance to all structural requirements in CFR Part 23

Become adept with the use of the latest structural analysis tools and techniques

Works under limited supervision

Support the IPT in the preparation of material for presentation at design and program reviews

Perform other related duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will not have any direct supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Requires abachelors degree in mechanicalor aerospace engineering; A prior internship or active participation in a project with emphasis on structural analysis or structural test, or equivalent education and experience would be an asset

Basic knowledge of aircraft with respect to structure, materials and processes specifications

Experience in Finite Element analysis and modeling

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, industry partners, and customers

Working knowledge of Windows based computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred:

Familiarity with FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and C+ computer programming; and some experience in Finite Element analysis and modeling

Familiarity with extracting CAD models using Siemens NX

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form
