Insitu Pacific delivers industry-leading uncrewed aerial system (UAS) services to Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Our expertise, operational experience, and knowledge has established Insitu Pacific as a key provider of end-to-end advanced multi-domain ISR solutions.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Systems Engineer to assist with requirements management, specification and sub-system derivation and Verification and Validation Planning (V&VP) on a major Defence project.

As a skilled Systems Engineer you will undertake systems and specialty engineering, requirements definition, design and production oversight, integration, verification planning and analysis, and technical project planning and control on Unmanned Aerial Systems within the Australian Defence environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate requirements derivation workshops with various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate development on policies, strategies and management of various Interface Control Documents.
  • Work in line with the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and coordinate key updates as required.
  • Perform requirements analysis and definition in response to both internal and external customer needs.
  • Perform trade studies, develop system interface definitions, and prepare verification and acceptance plans for product development and enhancement.
  • Perform and document specialty engineering analyses, including system safety, reliability and maintainability, and human factors engineering.
  • Plan and perform system integration, including laboratory and field test and evaluation.
  • Assist and provide a level of oversight with the design and construction of prototype and production components for validation and testing.
  • Assist with technical project planning, estimating, execution, control and reporting.
  • Assist with the development of technical elements of internal business cases and external customer proposals.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in mechanical, electrical, electronic, communications, computer engineering, aerospace or related discipline.
  • 2 or more years work related experience.
  • Professional experience in the specification, design, analysis, manufacture and test of products in aerospace or related industries, in particular unmanned systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, monitor and report on engineering development projects, including some direction and oversight of technical staff.
  • Prior experience working with Australian Defence customers.
  • Currently hold or eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements

Desirable

  • Masters degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline.
  • Specific advanced expertise in one or more of the following technology areas: voice and data communication systems; electro-optical and infra-red imaging and processing; and/or aerospace navigation and flight control.
  • Specific advanced expertise in one or more of the following specialty engineering areas: system safety, reliability and maintainability; human factors, electromagnetic environmental effects; configuration management; and/or production engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with non-conforming material review, and other material management quality processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering lifecycle, development methodologies, and rapid prototyping methodologies.
  • Prior experience working in or closely with the Australian Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG).
  • Prior experience with defence communications, uncrewed systems, tactical datalink systems and/or vehicle modification projects.
  • Experience with DASR compliance, specifically, Part 21J, Part 145M and UAS.
  • Experience in aerospace industry, particularly UAS.
