LAWFUL INTERCEPT ENGINEER, NETWORK COMPLIANCE (STARLINK)

This position entails planning, provisioning, and managing software that is used to meet regulatory requirements for lawful intercept, content filtering and data requests for our Starlink and Direct-To-Cell products. You will engage with other SpaceX engineers as well as our Legal and Market Access teams to understand the best solution for each country in our quest to connect the globe. You will be responsible for driving the complete lifecycle of the relevant software, including testing with various law enforcement agencies around the world, and training the Network Operations Team in the day-to-day operations of these systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take ownership of the conversation w/ international authorities with respects to turning their legal requirements into actionable, scalable, and sustainable solutions.
  • Partner with SpaceX Legal & Engineering teams to understand constraints and requirements from various authorities around the world.
  • Be the technical point of contact in the organization for Lawful Intercept. Know the how, when, and why.
  • Work with cross functional groups to identify, remediate and resolve any critical issues.
  • Develop prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints.
Job Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information security, computer science, engineering, or other technical field of study.
  • Experience with Scripting (EG: Python).
  • Experience in a Technical PM, Network Engineering, Software Engineering focused role.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with Telecom Lawful Intercept solutions, testing and ETSI / ANSI LI standards.
  • Experience with SQL and visualization tools such as Metabase, Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Familiarity with Information Security
  • Familiarity with Cloud-based servers.
  • Familiarity with Linux system administration, Docker and Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
  • Experience in setting up VPNs across multiple diverse vendors
  • Experience working with a Legal team and international customers or vendors.
  • Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills, engineering fundamentals and Internet scale experience.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel internationally as needed.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must be available for on-call rotations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Engineer/Level I: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year
Engineer/Level II: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
