The Navigational Radios - Radar Altimeters is anengineering group with the CNS organization in which this Lead System Engineerrole is included - with products spread across both commercial and military domains. 
While part of a large company and diverseorganization, the NavRadio-Radar Altimeter group operates very much like asmall business in many ways. We are fully integrated every aspect of aproducts life cycle - from working with a customer on a concept and subsequentproposal, through development, verification, production, and even obsolescencerefreshes. Our key contributors are expected to wear multiple "hats" dependentupon the program scope and timeline.  With respect to System Engineers(SE), our expectation on medium to smaller programs is for the SE to operate asboth SE and Design/Development Engineer - managing both the "system" side andthe "design" side that falls under your particular discipline, as an ElectricalEngineer (EE) you would be doing the EE work, etc.  such as draftingtechnical presentations or data items and maybe even running a test or two inthe lab as required.  As a Lead Systemrole, additional expectations are to operate independently, self-learn, provideguidance and oversight to others on team, and expertise advise/recommendationsto both engineering and business leadership. 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to existing programs and as skills/familiarity quickly develop - operate independently on tasks/programs
  • Develop requirements and system architecture - perform trade studies
  • Design to meet requirements (discipline dependent)
  • Test and validate designs - in prototype phase and for formal compliance - on bench, at off-site test facilities, and flight testing with both Honeywell and customer
  • Draft respective program artifacts, inclusive of items such as systems requirement document, test procedures and reports, white papers, etc.
  • Provide support to devices in production
  • Participate in proposals and cost estimation
  • "Jump in" and support other team members when/where needed
  • Perform RCCA on issues that arise during development and in production
  • Stay abreast of industry standards and trends and distill into actionable activities for team, programs, and products.
  • Provide "expert" recommendations to engineering and business leadership to evaluate decisions on pursuits, developments, and product roadmaps and strategies

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Computer Engineer, Systems, or Aerospace
  • 10-15 years Aerospace related work experience
  • Previous leadership experience leading other engineers
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with RF based systems/designs/architecture and related challenges
  • Mature understanding of current RF industry requirements, standards, and trends and how they apply to respective application in products.
  • Due to program and export control regulations, this position requires US citizenship status
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
