Description:We are Lockheed Martin

F-35 aircraft flight science discipline engineer. This candidate will be expected to lead and use
their technical expertise to develop aircraft analysis methods, test planning, test execution, and
train less experience engineers. The candidate will have flight test experience and have a broad
knowledge of all related disciplines. Candidate will be responsible for engaging as a lead role
position in performing a variety of flight test pre-mission preparations, flight-to-flight clearances
for future flights, test plan technical updates, test card review against structure airframe
operational limitations and clearances, simulation predictions, simulation maneuver
development, input to test pilots and flight test engineers, real time testing, post flight analysis,
and report writing.
Candidate will be responsible for tracking instrumentation issues and anomalies, coordinating
instrumentation repairs, conducting pre-flight load predictions. Candidate must have prior
experience in a minor lead role in a project leading less experience engineers. The candidate
will be expected to proactively work without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable
latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches to assignment.
Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership
role. This position also involves significant teamwork and coordination with flight test co-workers
in a variety of disciplines (pilots, mechanics, and inspectors, instrumentation, and data
technicians), qualification or certification authority representatives and subject matter expert
design engineers. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the
organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. The
candidate will work as a lead role under light direction of senior engineers and will be expected
to coordinate with other teams within the program. Develops technical solutions to complex
problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Represents the organization
as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

A level 4 employee Typically has 9 - 15 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Systems, or Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Technical Related Degree

Experience with statics, dynamics and aerodynamics

Experience with Flight Test.
Desired Skills:
Working knowledge of control systems design, analysis techniques, and testing.

Flight test background with envelope expansion experience
Experience with IADS real time and test data request post flight test tools

Plan and initiate their own work, lead teams, and mentor less experienced engineers.

Experience with fundamental aerospace engineering principles in static loads, dynamics, and fluid mechanics
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, multi-task, and manage time effectively.

Demonstrated ability and desire to identify and implement analytical tool/process improvements.

Experience in static loads analysis, structural analysis, aero/performance, stability & control, mass properties

Experience in post flight test data requests and analysis

Conduct pre-flight load predictions

Calculate various static loads

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $100,400 - $192,500 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $115,500 - $217,500. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
