Description:Ocala Operations is a multi-shift manufacturing facility that builds circuit cards, wiring harnesses, and electro-assemblies. The facility currently has over 1,000 employees and provides products to six Missiles and Fire Control sites. Ocala Operations specializes in both low volume high mix and high volume production that has a combination of automated processes as well as labor intensive manufacturing. The Site has a represented manufacturing workforce that is supported by a strong engineering and operations support team.

The Materials and Process Engineer position functions within a laboratory setting, designing and performing experiments related to measuring material properties, understanding component or assembly functional failures and evaluating product reliability.

Essential functions of a Materials and Process Engineer include:

- Utilize laboratory equipment and perform hands-on evaluations of materials and electronic components used in electronic assemblies.
- Analyze and interpret data generated in laboratory testing to aid in drawing conclusions and resolving laboratory requests.
- Clearly communicate laboratory test plans and results in the form of written reports and presentations.
- Identify test equipment to expand laboratory capability and manage capital projects related to purchase, install and training on new equipment.
- Understand the manufacturing processes and products utilized within Ocala Operations as a background for laboratory evaluations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Completed degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Two years of professional experience with a bachelors degree; or no experience required with a related Masters degree. Considered experienced, but still a learner
- Knowledge / coursework in a laboratory environment
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- This position will be located at a facility that requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen
Desired Skills:
- Experience using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and associated characterization techniques such as EDS, WDS and EBSD, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrosocpy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), coordinate measuring machine (CMM), ion chromatography (IC), X-ray / CT inspection and optical microscopy
- Experience in writing laboratory reports and preparing presentations
- Circuit card assembly and cable assembly experience
- Understanding of printed wiring board manufacturing
- Understanding of electrical component construction and function, including semiconductors, resistors, capacitors, inductors, etc.
- Experience working to industry-related specifications on processes, testing and products such as IPC specifications, ASTM test specifications and MIL standards
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
