The Quality Metrology Engineer will assist in the development of quality systems with the customer and manufacturing organization to assure delivery of quality castings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform dimensional inspection of castings using Blue Light and/or mechanical metrology methods.
  • Ballooning (Itemization) of customer blueprints, using DISCUS software in preparation for inspection. Generating PWA Net-Inspect Forms and GE eCAV Forms.
  • Assist Quality and Product Engineers with creating detailed documentation on inspection reports and non-conformance reports for submittals.
  • Maintain calibration records for department’s technical inspection equipment.
  • Maintain a schedule for the department and provide commitment dates for all FAIR’s.
  • Work with outsides resources on tasks needed for layouts.
  • Prepare castings for internal inspection, Wall Masters, Gage Correlations (i.e. filleting, section, scribing)
  • Manage the layout casting archive system to the customer’s specifications
  • Perform monthly audits to monitor product quality.
  • Work with Engineers on troubleshooting process issues
  • Able to write PC-DMIS CMM programs.
  • Generate CMM QEI procedures for the CMM department.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and effectively communicate with customers, outside resources, and co-workers.
  • Good attendance and ability to work efficiently to achieve business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of A.S. in mechanical engineering and/or extensive background in layout inspection or tool building.
  • Basic computer skills with background in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point).
  • Ability to read and interpret casting blueprints. General knowledge and concept of a 6-point alignment.
  • Ability to use basic plate inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of statistics, statistical analysis, and GDT.
  • General knowledge and concept of a 6-point alignment.
  • 3-D CAD modeling (NX / AutoCAD), 3-D inspection software -GOM Inspect Professional 2018 (strongly recommended)
  • Ability to Blue Light scan parts on ATOS Q unit.
  • Ability to program FARO Arm using PolyWorks 2023 IR2 – Inspector Probing Suite.
  • Ability to program Hexagon CMM using PC-DMIS software
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
