Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney Puerto Rico Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Engineer, with a solid background in structures engineering. Engineer will be responsible of repair task planning and execution, negotiate with all stake holders to ensure delivery of structural assessments, and must be capable of providing advise from a structural engineers’ perspective. Support to all IPT’s (airfoils, rotors, static) is expected. Qualified candidates need to be able to effectively support a diverse team of individuals to meet requirements and achieve goals. Candidates need to be technically proficient, communicate effectively, and be customer focused.

Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Aftermarket & Sustainment (ASE) Structures Managers in the execution of commercial and military engines repair deliverables and implementing our outsourcing strategy

  • Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering.

  • Coordinate structural analysis requirements for repairs with module centers/ Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs).

  • Monitor progress, identify, and resolve obstacles to minimize schedule disruption to ensure task completion.

  • Develop and manage risk assessment and risk mitigation plans.

  • Responsible for providing status updates on tasks through our Repair Dashboard and during status meetings.

  • Participate as an active member in cross-discipline teams to provide task management solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements.

  • Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy.

  • Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with peers, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected.

  • Manage increase workload and changes in priorities by utilizing project management skills.

  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English

  • Travel is up to 10.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years of aerospace or turbomachinery structures experience or 3 years of aerospace or turbomachinery structures experience with an Advanced Degree in Engineering.

  • 3 years of experience performing state-of-the-art ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, determination of low cycle fatigue life and residual life (fracture mechanics) predictions.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience with Project Management tool sets (Agile, SAP, Primavera, or MS Project).

  • 1 year with working knowledge of continuous improvement principles (CORE, QCPC, Process Certification, Lean Six Sigma).

  • 3 years of experience with software and programing languages. ANSYS, Workbench, ABAQUS, PATRAN / NASTRAN, APDL, MATLAB, VBA, Python, C++, Fortran, MS Office, NX Teamcenter and SAP.

  • Experience with stress and life changes after repairs and in-service field investigations.

  • Experience working with P&W tools such as PWLife, Surck and FE global and sub-models.
