Boeing Global Services (BGS) engineering has an exciting opportunity and is seeking an experienced motivated, and self-starter candidate; Senior Project Engineer (Level 4/5) to support a multi-disciplined Practices and Processes engineering team. This position reports to the BGS Practices and Processes senior leader.

We are looking for a candidate to lead the support of development and sustainment of the design practice system (design practices, technical design reviews, design records, etc.) across the BGS engineering division and Product Support Function.

A successful candidate will lead development of statement of work; identify and recommend improvements utilizing the principles and tools within project management. 

In this position, the individual will be collaborating with technical working groups and program Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to execute engineering design practice system deliverables and goals.

Frequent interaction with technical fellows and senior engineering leadership – to resolve team priorities and initiatives. Ability to be forward thinking and provide strategic direction on business plans is critical. Works under minimal direction.

Position Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Collaborates with the Product Support Design Practice (DP) Deputy in addition to the Product Support Design Practice Technical Board Chair to accomplish goals, properly document processes, DP activities, work flow, and integration

  • Project Leadership: Lead design practice (DP) project execution support and ensures completion of project phases. Maintains accountability for overall design practices health metrics (BGS engineering, Product Support function), maintaining situational awareness and taking appropriate action to ensure successful completion of task

  • Collects, analyzes and validates engineering performance metrics and data (Enterprise Integrated Schedule Repository, Product Support DP Line of Balance).  Compares actual results of baseline plans to assess project performance for design practices, ensures configuration control/ management of data and processes

  • Ability to use and learn data driven tools/applications such as SharePoint, Microsoft PowerBI etc.

  • Leads / actively participates in design practice core team meetings (project reviews, change board meeting etc.) Manages actions and change log items as required for design practice project execution

  • Technical Guidance: Identify opportunities for process improvements and leads implementation of improvements including but not limited to: engineering process related to design practices, engineering taxonomy services. Collaborates with the project team

  • Proactively communicates with leaders and peers across BGS engineering, technical boards, and engineering enterprise team. Keeps team members informed by communicating project status, conducting and participating in team meetings and providing presentations

  • Produces reports, presentations and defines plans that highlight upcoming design practices deliverables for engineering leadership

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

  • Applies lessons learned

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Education):

  • Bachelors degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 5+ years of experience within an engineering discipline such as (industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, engineering ,and/or quality engineering functions)

  • 5+ years of experience working with cross-functional or cross-organizational teams to develop and implement plans, schedules, or solutions

  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing integrated technical projects or teams across multiple organizations

  • Understanding the principles and tools within project management

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 5: 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Familiarity with design practices and technical design reviews

  • 10+ years of experience in developing and managing processes and metrics

  • 5+ years of program and/or engineering platform facing experience

  • Experience with RIOs and Lean

  • Familiarity with design practices and technical design reviews

  • Familiarity with application/tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, SharePoint

  • Understanding the principles and tools within project management is strongly desired

Typical Education & Experience:

Level 4:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 5:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range (Level 4): $114,750 – $165,600 

Summary pay range (Level 5): $140,250 – $203,550
