An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Senior HSE Engineer in the Smart Energy and Thermal Solutions (SETS) Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) business unit located in Golden Valley, Minnesota.  In this exciting opportunity in a dynamic environment, you will utilize your experience in HSE to significantly impact and support the site leadership ISC team. 

This position will allow the candidate to showcase the HSE regulatory knowledge, experience, and compliance to improve overall site HSE maturity.  This role will report directly to the Senior HSE Manager for the Americas, with a matrix reporting relationship to the Plant Manager.

Key HSE Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate workplace hazards and recommend control measures to reduce the risks.
  • Support site employees at different organizational levels including factory, engineering, etc. to reduce incidents.
  • Deploy Health, Safety and Environmental management systems, maintain regulatory compliance, implement HSE procedures and processes and assist with the improvement of the site HSE culture.
  • Responsible for preparing and updating the site Health, Safety and Environmental management procedures and processes.
  • Review and communicate HSE procedures/requirements (both Honeywell and regulatory requirements) to employees and managers at all levels while considering diversity and multicultural nature of the company.
  • Responsible for monitoring, documenting, and reporting HSE metrics, corrective actions, incidents, regulatory inspections, injury/illness reduction, audit results, etc.
  • Supporting Management of Change (MOC), HSE review of capital projects, and participation in hazard assessments.
  • Provide technical support to the Leadership Team and plant personnel in the day-to-day operations.
  • Communicate with site employees on HSE issues and/or oversees the training/communication efforts.
  • Conduct evergreen self HSE assessment (Maturity Planning) activities as per Corporate and division requirements.
  • Accountable for supporting and completing departmental goals.
  • Develop training matrices and programs, deliver presentations and training to site personnel and managers.
  • Lead /participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis as necessary for any environmental, safety, or other incident(s) and ensure that all required reports and corrective actions are implemented in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Establish and maintain HSE documentation and record keeping.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, federal as well as with Corporate HSE regulations and requirements.
  • Actively participate in daily meetings, prepare, and present HSE reports and communicate changes in a timely manner. Provide inputs for integrating HSE into corporate management systems.
  • Act as a liaison between the site and global SETS ISC HSE organization by attending periodic global meetings, providing reports, and presenting the site at global HSE meetings.  
  • Participate in HSE aspects associated with site continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure site is complying with external regulatory audits as well as internal corporate audits.

MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in a full time HSE role in an industrial setting.

  • Lean/Six Sigma Greenbelt certified or willing to become certified in first 12 months.
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • Knowledge of safety legislation and management systems.
  • Team oriented and effective public speaking skills.
  • Effective communications and influence all levels of employees and leadership.
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods, First Aid practices, environmental and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Experience participating in audits and implementing HSE management systems.
