SUMMARY
This position will act as an agent of change for TIMET and will execute the following: Implement process improvements (internal and external) to meet TIMET safety, production, cost improvement and environmental goals. Projects will require a cost justification, project plans and timely focused project execution resulting in measurable, sustained business improvements. At all times conduct business in a safe, ethical, and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead Process Improvement Projects that support TIMET goals to improve safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
Utilize data to drive improvements and implement control plans to sustain those improvements.
Lead project meetings and ensure an open flow of communication and information across the organization.
Identify improvements in equipment, processes, or inspection technologies necessary to assure satisfactory process capability and achieve cost improvements.
Prepare process scopes for significant process changes and participate in CEP implementation teams.
Working with Accounting to define and measure cost savings.
Implement Lean Manufacturing and Visual Factory.
Implement visual factory including 5S, SOP’s, SPC monitoring, and Performance Metric Tracking.
Assist in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the various TIMET operating departments.
Implement Lean Manufacturing techniques to remove waste from processes.
Assist in the development and implementation of operational department training material.
Provide Technical Support for Henderson Operations, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Departments.
Provide Continuous Improvement Leadership.
Present regular reports and drive projects to completion within assigned deadlines.
Implement the appropriate metrics and associated data collection to drive improvements.
Facilitate communication and achievement of company and plant goals and objectives.
On-site surveillance of Henderson and subcontracted processes
Technical capability evaluations and approvals of new subcontractors, equipment, etc.
Perform and assist with corrective and preventive action investigations.
Involvement in customer related issues
Daily involvement and engagement in daily operations within Henderson.
Engage in daily operations, tasks, and projects to improve safety, quality, OTD, throughput, etc.
Internally and externally identify, design, test and implement process improvements to meet TIMET production, safety, cost improvement and environmental goals.
Determine process capabilities for the various pieces of production equipment in the Henderson Facility.
Identify the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Henderson processes and the application of SPC to monitor those characteristics.
Plan and Lead Continuous Improvement Teams
Identify improvements in equipment, processes, or inspection technologies necessary to assure satisfactory process capability and achieve cost improvements.
Prepare flow diagrams and charts.
Prepare forms, documents, prints, and reports for MOC activities.
Provide support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for equipment failures and loss of production. Assist maintenance and provide technical guidance required to return equipment to operation as to minimize downtime and lost production.
Responsible for analyzing production quality and delay data for establishing and documenting or modifying operating and maintenance tasks. Generate continuous improvement projects based on production data.
Prepare and review equipment failure/root cause analysis reports and determine/evaluate corrective action items and the impact of corrective action items to the preventive maintenance programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize Access databases and Excel Worksheets as required.
Utilize SAP to obtain information to support improvement initiatives.
Attend training classes and seminars to learn improvement methodologies and to enhance technical skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, or Industrial Engineer (an equivalent amount of relevant work experience may also be considered).
5 to 8 years of Metals or Manufacturing Engineering experience.
Computer Proficiency, MS Office preferred.
Experience with forging and rolling of metal a plus.
Experience with SAP a plus
