Within BR&T’s Mission System Technologies (MST) organization, Boeing’s Advanced Computing Technologies Capability Technology Team (CTT) supports innovation, maturation and development of Advanced Computing capabilities, leveraging world class, next generation technologies, aligned with Boeings Disruptive Computing and Networks (DC&N) organization. The senior multiskill manager for Advanced Computing will be responsible for addressing growing people and facilities needs at the Huntington Beach and El Segundo Sites. ACT acts as a functional engineering home room providing those engineering skill services, as needed, to support the Missions Systems (MS), Disruptive Computing and Networking (DCN) and Boeing, Defense, Space & Security (BDS), businesses, as required. 

In pursuit of Boeings research and business interests, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead the development of teams that will work on world class, next generation disruptive technologies across the enterprise and at business partners and teammate facilities to build teams that develop, document, analyze, and test operational, functional, and environmental requirements of non-recurring development research technologies, products and systems.

  • Develop Teams that can leverage advanced Model Based Systems Engineering methods and tools such as CAMEO to develop models, perform complex analysis and trade studies to evaluate Key Performance Parameters from technology requirements definition, design and manufacturing process definition all the way to the product development phase, supporting the technology all the way from concept definition to technology demonstration.

  • Build teams that provide high impact, creative and innovative solutions to complex technical problems

  • Work both independently and as part of a dynamic team environment alongside world-class research scientists, engineers and Boeing business leaders

Position Responsibilities:

  • Deploy strong system engineering teams that support the definition, development, verification and validation of technologies that include advanced sensors, networking, computing and other critical technologies for the DC&N business

  •  Develop systems engineers that will successfully integrate modeling, analysis, formal reviews, lab demonstrations and troubleshooting tools/techniques into the execution of ongoing research and development.

  •  Guide systems engineering teams on how to optimize verification of these technologies in a highly complex, industrial, automated laboratory settings including a thermal test laboratory currently under development.

  •  Develop systems engineering teams that have the ability to successfully integrate technologies under development with larger system concepts of operation while determining impacts to interfaces, integration techniques, manufacturability and integrated system testing.

  •  Build teams capable of defining functional architecture and modeling needs and coordinate efforts with functional architecture and modeling/simulation teams to meet end item deliverable test, verification & validation dates

  • Partner with researchers and technology experts in understanding current technology state, emerging technologies and potential future technologies in order to inform and define staffing skill requirements.

  • Identify, innovate and oversee development and maintenance of new tools and processes to support this work scope

  •  Support customer engagement for technologies currently under research & development and support system engineering teams in identifying new business opportunities within the Boeing DC&N and Research and Technology portfolio

  • Lead in career development of all assigned systems engineers including SE skill development, knowledge share amongst team members, active mentorship engagement, and succession planning.

  •  Manage all system engineering hiring, retention, performance review and project SE assignment activities within the DC&N business area

  •  Act as DC&N focal for coordination of processes and standards necessary across the broader Boeing organization

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options (El Segundo, CA and Huntington Beach, CA).

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 10+ years of experience in a management role with both people and business unit leadership responsibilities

  • 7+ years of experience leading or building a team

  • Experience in Facilities Operations, Facilities Management, or Capital Projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrated experience in new business and new technology team building

  • Demonstrated experience in classified technology team building

  • Experience working in an agile model-based system engineering environment

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $175,000 - $245,000
