Position Summary


DRS Network & Imaging Systems in Cypress, CA is part of the Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems Group of Leonardo DRS and has over 30 years of experience in designing and developing electro-optical/infrared systems for surveillance and targeting applications. We are seeking a Test Engineer to join the company in the development of strategic space and weather systems. This position will be involved with the design and development of test programs to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services, write test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability, and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications.


Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications and Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of Lab Equipment Operation (Oscilloscopes, DVM, Frequency Generators, etc.)
  • Strong skills with Matlab, Labview, and  MSOffice (Word and Excel)
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to obtain and retain a security clearance is required

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of Optical Systems (cameras, telescopes, detectors) is a plus
  • Electrical circuit troubleshooting skills is a plus
  • Emphasis on Matlab scripting for automated data processing is a plus
  • Ability to lead a technical group independently
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in technical activity
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems 
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments 
  • Ability to work independently under supervision of others
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
  • Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work and local travel.

The pay scale for this position is $69,714/year  - $99,691/year. The pay scale information is a general guideline only. Several factors can influence the pay scale for a position including but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
