Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Tool Designer to support the Pike County Operations (PCO) located near Troy, Alabama. This tool designer will function as the 3D print lab (RAPTOR) lead in addition to tool design responsibilities. PCO is a state-of-the-art facility providing the safest and most advanced missile assembly and test operation of its kind. This center support sales in excess of $1B annually.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Manage daily activities of Raptor print lab including FDM/resin printing and laser cutting.
Prioritize daily activities

Coordinate with program tooling engineers to develop and evaluate tool designs for 3D printability.

As needed collaborate with design engineering, production and other stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and fabricate special tools, holding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and inspection gauges necessary for the manufacture of components to the requirements of the engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models

Create detailed tool design drawings, complete with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), utilizing PTC Creo and CATIA V5.

Provide shop floor support as necessary to resolve tooling, technical and/or manufacturing related issues.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Willingness to learn and receive training, and if required, train others.

Troy, Alabama is located in the East Gulf Coastal Plains region of southeastern Alabama. Troys climate is typical of areas along the Gulf of Mexico in that it has hot, humid summers and mild winters.

Where can you get to from Troy? Our facility in Troy is just under an hour south of Montgomery, Alabama. Troy is about 2.5 hours north of the Gulf of Mexico and Fort Walton Beach and Floridas Pan Handle. Troy is about three hours from Atlanta, GA.
Basic Qualifications:
Mechanical Engineering degree or a related technical discipline at the Bachelor level or above from an accredited college.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in Tool Design.
Must have a complete understanding of drafting methods and a proven track record of creating 3D CAD models and engineering drawings of various tools, support equipment, and factory equipment.
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance. Lockheed Martin will assist selected candidate with obtaining at least an Interim Secret Clearance prior to starting.
Must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) background investigation to obtain “employee possessor” approval (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.
Desired Skills:
CREO / Pro-E experience with a focus on tooling, taking a concept through to final design and fabrication.
Experience with 3D FDM printing, 3D Resin Printing, and laser cutting.
Experience utilizing different printer/cutter software packages. IdeaMaker, Simplify3D, Zsuite, lightburn, Formlabs PreForm.
Hands-on mechanical assembly skills with building / assembling hardware, and the ability to clear verbal & written communicate skills, the ability to provide clear direction to all levels of education.
Experience with manufacturing processes (electronic, mechanical, optical assemblies), GD&T, precision machining, assembly sequences.
Experience with Systems, Applications & Products (SAP) and Windchill PLM.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
