Welding Inspector - Bryan, TX

• Review and approval of supplier welding procedures
• Provide technical guidance and expertise with respect to construction support, problem resolution and corrective actions for welding performed by suppliers
• Provide support to supplier qualifying new welding procedures
• Evaluate the capabilities and capacity of prospective suppliers
• Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field on welding

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• At least one year engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding applications

Preferred:

• Degree in Materials Science or Welding Engineering
• Three or more years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication or shipbuilding applications
• The ability to read and understand component specifications, military specifications and engineering drawings
• Experience working with basic arc welding processes and an understanding of the fundamentals of welding metallurgy
• Experience with the development and qualification of weld procedures

• Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with both a technical and nontechnical audience
• Candidate must be highly motivated, perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations, including interfacing regularly with SUPSHIP or NAVSEA customers, in an engineering environment
