PURPOSE: To support maintenance with critical part requirements to fulfill the demands that impact the airline. This requires sourcing aircraft parts, initiating purchase orders, expediting open orders, coordinating the logistics that meet the department requirements, and cost management. This position is also responsible for inventory planning requirements and assists with inventory management of customer service supplies that fulfill both the internal and external customer needs and service levels. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure supplier and delivery commitments are met.

  1. Understand supplier lead times and logistic requirements to ensure inventory availability.
  2. Contract and supplier review
  3. Inventory availability
  4. Fill rates 
  5. Annual supplier performance reviews

Collaborate with operations to define material service requirements. 

  1. Manage purchase orders to meet organizational demands. 
  2. Understand TechOps requirements; MEL, Deferred maintenance items, etc. to ensure aircraft reliability and readiness. 
  3. Identify interchangeable parts and seek engineering approval to procure 
  4. Manage backorder reports
  5. Expedite orders to meet urgent requirements

Develop and manage purchasing cost saving opportunities. 

  1. Identify Supplier price breaks, minimum order quantities and compare to JIT requirements to achieve spend cost effectiveness.
  2. Streamline logistic requirements.
  3. Identify PMA & other cost saving opportunities
  4. Consolidate supplier orders and shipments

Support inventory planning to ensure inventory levels and fill rate are met 

  1. Establish min & max levels to optimize inventory usage versus supplier lead times.
  2. Inventory turns 
  3. Minimize surplus

Negotiate supplier agreements. 

  1. Work with our partners to establish agreements with fixed pricing.
  2. Establish deliverables that support our inventory logistic needs.
  3. Establish approved price catalog
  4. Avoid purchases outside approved contracts

FUNCTIONAL & BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree in business or related field preferred; in lieu of a degree a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • 1+ years in airline / aviation experience or analytics
  • Previous purchasing and/or inventory planning experience 
  • Project management experience 
  • Must be able to move throughout line maintenance environment for extended periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day).
  • Ability to work through multiple problems/solutions prioritizing and sequencing the execution of issues to manage and resolve them quickly and effectively.
  • Possible travel for supplier meetings, or issue resolution up to 10 a year.
  • Comfortable and casual-dress business environment, with occasional requirement for full business attire for meetings or presentations.
