Job Description:

SUMMARY

Inspect, repair and fabricate aircraft composite structures and components on company and customer aircraft.  Performs work on assigned aircraft including assembly, repair, and modification as qualified while adhering to FAA regulations.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Perform composite repair, fabrication, and modification using hand tools to produce aircraft products.
  • Works with composites using pre-preg doing wet lay-ups.
  • Works with resins, carbon fiber, and honeycomb materials.
  • Sands and grinds composite materials while wearing a full body suit.
  • Correct aircraft discrepancies involving composite repairs.
  • Bench assembles, and installs composite components on aircraft.
  • Corrects discrepancies using information from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, or other documents as required.
  • Uses manufacturing planning, written instructions, schematics, blueprints and other applicable technical data to repair, fabricate and modify composite structures.
  • Uses appropriate stamp to sign off completed work to include manufacturing planning, inspection discrepancy records, product assurance records and applicable program documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and healthy work area.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Aviation composite experience either fixed wing or rotorcraft experience required.
  • Aviation mechanical experience either fixed wing or rotorcraft experience desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, engineering drawing and technical publications required.
  • Familiarity with various pieces of ground support and test equipment desired.
  • The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
  • Access to Export Control Information.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • This job requires a minimum of high school education or general education degree (GED) and 3 to 5 years work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
