Job Description:
The Composite Technician III shall perform advanced lay-up and bonding of composite structures in a  prototype environment. Must be able to do contoured aircraft lay-up work with pre-preg as well as with wet  lay-up materials. Must also be capable of working with core and film adhesives when doing the lay-up process. Tech III shall also be capable of completing the delivery of a quality part by properly bagging, trimming and  drilling the finished part. The qualified applicant shall also be capable of supporting composite assembly by  doing the necessary prep work, alignment and completion of the bonded process required for aircraft structures.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate composite parts for aircraft using approved lay-up processes.
  • Work with prototype processes to produce a quality part or assembly.
  • Use the proper materials and equipment to produce composite parts.
  • Trim core as required to meet design requirements.
  • Work with multiple types of hand tools and cutting equipment to make a finished part.
  • Mix the required epoxies or resins needed for assembly processes.
  • Work with assembly fixtures to correctly bond aircraft structures 
  • Work closely with Engineering to fully understand part requirements.
  • Serve as a leader and mentor with lower level techs working the part or assembly.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area with regard to FOD and safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • 8+ years’ experience doing composite lay-up on contour tools and assembly work.
  • Capable of safely using shop tools.
  • Ability to interpret composite drawings and fabricate from them.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a composite manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. when needed.
  • Capable of standing, bending or kneeling as needed to support the composite work.
Shift Requirements:  
  • Day shift/with possible night shift for short periods of time to meet production schedules
