Job Summary:

The Cirrus Research & Development (R&D) team is tasked with the development of new components and technologies intended for evaluation on next generation aircraft. The primary responsibility of the Research & Development (R&D) Fabrication Technician will be to fabricate components using varied processes and methods. This role requires constant learning of new methods and the application of new industry technologies. The individual must be self-motivated, have a high degree of integrity, strong verbal skills, and be comfortable working with a highly diverse cross functional team.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Possess a broad skillset used to fabricate precision aircraft parts.
  • Fabricate parts from models, blueprints, drawings, and verbal directions.
  • Able to fabricate to print and verify accuracy using precision measuring instruments.
  • Possess a strong creative mind and extreme attention to detail.
  • Envision the full process of the build – layout through installation.
  • Knowledge of equipment such as hydraulic brake, power shear, band saw, and drill press.
  • Use a variety of manual and pneumatic riveting equipment: squeezes, guns, and bucking bars.
  • Knowledge of machine tools such as CNC mills, CNC routers, knee mills, and engine lathes.
  • Responsible for fabrication of aircraft piece parts and tooling, prototypes, molds and tooling - fixtures.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication methods.
  • Collaborate with a wide audience to develop technologies and designs.
  • Possess strong creative mind and extreme attention to detail.
  • Hold a general understanding of metal fabrication processes.
  • This position may be tasked with leading a small diverse group of technicians

Computer Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must. Knowledge of CAM ( Fusion 360, Mastercam) and CAD (PTC Creo) software is preferred.

Education and/or Experience

3-5 years of combined schooling and industry experience. Aerospace, manufacturing, industrial or Machine Tool Technology degrees preferred.

Certificates or Licensures:

No licenses are required for this position. Other industry certificates considered a plus.
