Job Description:
SUMMARY: Interfaces with maintenance personnel, purchasing and receiving to ensure materials are processed in a consistent, timely manner. Using current electronic and operating procedures issue, return, reallocate and safely handle aircraft parts, standards tools, equipment, kits and general supplies. Provide flexible support to various areas within the Materiel Department. Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard or work site. Communicates status of materials to customer organization. Works under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties include the following items:
  • Move materials to/from aircraft, pallets, and shelves. Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Complete necessary transactions to correctly account for material transfers, issues, returns and reallocations. 
  • Inform Procurement of critical part orders.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties within area.
  • Assist receiving and Hangar Parts Department (HPD) with Aircraft on Ground (AOG) parts.
  • Assist in expediting AOG items through Receiving, QC, Shipping and Distribution to HPD.
  • Confirm shipping information and arrival of part(s) and relay to mechanics and customers.
  • Run reports for all shops MWO’s awaiting part(s).
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Perform IBT Material Handler duties as necessary.

Duties shall include observing all company, health, safety and environmental rules, ensuring that you are provided with full information on your area specific safety issues, all unique hazards are identified, and you are provided with the proper equipment to carry out your job in a safe manner. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels regarding all job-related issues both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to drive light duty trucks and operate pallet jacks and hand trucks. 
  • Ability to operate general office equipment, such as fax and copy machines.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
  • 6 months related experience preferred.
  • Computer experience and/or training preferred.
  • Must obtain a forklift certification within six months.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee will also be required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and with assistance occasionally lift and/or move greater poundage.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in this work environment is usually high. May work near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
