Description:**This is a weekend schedule (Friday, Saturday or Sunday 12 hours/day) that will be worked on 1st or 2nd shift**

Lockheed Martins Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) business area is seeking an Optical Inspector to join our team.
From ultra-precision machining and additive manufacturing to the development and production of complex optical components and sophisticated electronic systems, Lockheed Martin MFC utilizes the latest capabilities in manufacturing to produce some of the worlds most advanced weapon and sensor technology.
The Optical Inspector:
Performs a variety of inspection operations required during the fabrication of optical elements and assemblies and documents non-conforming hardware.
Works from engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, manufacturing process plans, manufacturing processes, inspection test plans and other written instructions.
Inspects in-coming raw glass and optical elements for such items as center thickness, diameter, dimensions, clear aperture, etc.
Inspects optical/mechanical sub-assemblies and assemblies to ensure that components are assembled in accordance with specifications.
Ascertains previous acceptance of components, and checks for proper fit, bonding, data, surface quality (scratch/dig), and verify completion of test results.
Uses equipment such as interferometer, optical spheres, white-light interferometer, micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, optical comparator, measuring microscope, height gage, pins and wires.
Performs measurements for irregularity, RMS, power, wedge and radius, center thickness and SAG, diameter, flatness, roundness and run out.
May monitor tests for focal length, spot size, distortion, transmission reflection, interference, humidity, salt spray and temperature shock.
May be required to conduct tests such as hardness, adhesion and abrasion.
Stamps details and assemblies as acceptable, and prepares and maintains paper work and records.
This will likely be for 3x12 shift (Fri-Sun 12 hours shifts)
Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift according to the guidelines of the collective bargaining agreement between Lockheed Martin and UAW.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to
obtain security clearance.
Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd or weekend
shift in accordance with the collective bargaining
agreement.
Computer skills, knowledge of blue prints,
mechanical aptitude, knowledge of basic
inspection tools.
Optics inspection experience or Optics
manufacturing experience
Desired Skills:
Experience measuring scratch/dig defects
Experience with using interferometer
Optical coatings experience
Experience reading and working from
engineering drawing
Previous inspection experience
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
