PAL Aerospace is currently seeking a Tool Crib Operator for our Comox, BC base.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Controlling the issue and return of all tools used in the PAL FWSAR Tool Control system and ensuring that replacement tools are properly etched;
  • Maintaining the master official tool checklists for all FWSAR tool control containers;
  • Inspecting and verifying all support tools and test equipment, including torque wrenches IAW Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), manuals and standard practices;
  • Control of issue & returns and coordination of maintenance for Role Equipment (CC295 Configuration Equipment);
  • Coordinating the calibration of Support and Test Equipment (STE), Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and other tooling as required in accordance with the applicable usage/condition schedule;
  • Maintaining the master copy of the FWSAR etch code record;
  • Investigating, reporting, recording and replacing lost tools;
  • Liaison via the DND Tool Control Co-Ord (TCC) for the ordering of equipment/material as required to support the CC295;
  • Coordinating requests for new issue of tools or tool control equipment for FWSAR support;
  • Inspecting tool boards/kits and ensuring that unserviceable tools are removed and replaced with serviceable items at least annually;
  • Maintaining an efficient and high standard tool control system in support of FWSAR;
  • Briefing supervisors and technicians on their responsibilities in applying the PAL FWSAR Tool Control System procedures in an efficient and correct manner;
  • Become familiar with Canadian Forces Technical Orders and related publications; 
  • Providing and controlling tools used by contractor Mobile Repair Party (MRP);
  • Reporting all air incidents involving tools; and
  • Other tasks as assigned by the SMM/CFO Leads.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience of Aerospace Tool Control Management considered an asset;
  • Aptitude for PAL FWSAR on-boarding training (to be provided);
  • Aptitude for  DND DRMIS training (to be provided);
  • Effective written and oral communication skills;
  • Basic to Intermediate computer skills and willingness to learn other software;
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate level of security clearance required for the role;
  • Must be able to attain International Trade in Armaments Regulations (ITAR)and Canadian Controlled Goods (CCG) clearance requirements.
