Role Summary

The Advanced Ground Support Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the advanced troubleshooting and repair of ground support equipment at Horizon Air. As a member of the Ground Support team, this individual contributor role ensures safe and reliable equipment though skill set and mentorship.

Key Duties

  • Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of ground support equipment.

  • Ability to complete complex troubleshooting and repair tasks, working independently or with manufacturer engineering support.

  • Ability to utilize the maintenance database system for work order tracking.

  • Partner with GSE leadership and Station management to prioritize emergency repairs for GSE causing operational disruptions.

  • Skills to utilize advanced maintenance system software and diagnostic tools.

  • Ability to read and comprehend AC and DC electrical schematics.

  • Ability to analyze and assess the quality and safety of the ground support equipment received from manufacturers and provide feedback to management.

  • Collaborate with the Stations Policy and Procedures team to assist in development of Ground Service Agent training.

  • Act as Horizon’s first line of response for GSE urgent repairs and safety investigations.

  • Strong ability to mentor others including junior equipment mechanics.

  • Ability to track trends and anticipate possible maintenance needs proactively.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 10 years advanced maintenance experience working in one of three disciplines: diesel equipment, fuel injected gas engines or electric equipment.

  • Experience operating within an established maintenance safety program.

  • Ability to meet qualifications to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV).

  • Must have an adequate complement of own tools.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp.

  • Ability to travel to other cities up to 75 of the time.

  • Ability to work a variety of schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to work in some inclement weather conditions.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance.

  • Strong ability to communicate both verbally and written in the English language.

  • Strong ability to proactively problem-solve.

  • High school diploma.

  • Minimum age of 21.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • ASE Certification.

  • Technical trade school in repair and maintenance.

  • 2 years of experience with aviation deice equipment.

  • 2 years of experience with aviation ground support equipment.

USD $37.00/Hr.
