Performs welding processes, inspection, and sheet metal fabrication per maintenance support requirements. Documents maintenance actions in NALCOMIS/VIDMAFs.
DUTIES
Must have demonstrated maintenance knowledge, experience, and working level skills/ability:
- The ASW must have demonstrated knowledge, experience, and working level skills/ability in area of aviation and aerospace welding, and structures sheet metal and fabrication.
- The ASW shall have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the area of aeronautical welding in an aviation maintenance environment.
- The ASW shall have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the field of DOD military aviation maintenance in the last ten (10) years to the level of effort and complexity of requirements in this SOW. Examples of acceptable experience: Navy Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM) or Aviation Support Equipment Technician (AS) (i.e., E-5, E-6, or E-7) or USMC equivalency. Graduate from military A and C schools or civilian training. NEC AM-7222 (Aeronautical Welder).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of aeronautical welding experience in an aviation maintenance environment.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have or be able to obtain a National Agency Check with Investigation. The NACI process will include requesting a credit history.

- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.

- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
- May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
- Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
- May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
