What the position is:

Commuteair is seeking a skilled Aviation Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our dynamic team. As an integral part of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and airworthiness of our aircraft fleet. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of aircraft sheet metal fabrication, repair, and installation techniques. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability for our aircraft operations.

 

Essential functions:

  • Must be able to lay out, fabricate, install, and repair sheet metal repairs using the SRM and other approved Technical Data or verbal instructions
  • Performs assembling operations such as cutting, filing, drilling, countersinking, fitting, shimming, adjusting, clamping, bolting, reaming, riveting, and bucking where locations and other pertinent information are established or predetermined and tolerances, edge margins and hole patterns, etc., are usually controlled by tooling and fixtures.’
  • Locates reference points, holes, parts, and assemblies from established reference lines or points, transfers hole and rivets pattern within predetermined limits, and performs sheet metal assembly work without the aid of jigs, fixtures, or other tooling when necessary

General requirements & qualifications:

  • Must have two or more years of previous airframe sheet metal experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate (Preferred)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license
  • Good driving record and ability to drive tugs, trucks, and hangar equipment; taxi aircraft; alert to moving vehicles and aircraft
  • Valid US passport (or foreign passport with documented work authorization in the US)
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written, and radio)
  • Positive attitude towards productivity, safety, and quality maintenance
  • Available to work shifts and overtime if necessary
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50lbs, bend, stoop, crawl, and kneel frequently in confined spaces.
