Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine production assembly operations on structural and mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual operations.
  • Perform simple production assembly operations on structural and mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual operations.
  • Select correct parts, materials, tools, assemblies, standards, hardware, etc.
  • Install, fit, fasten, align, adjust and perform the necessary pre-installation assembly work to accomplish the installation of structural components requiring the use of production and engineering prints to determine exact locations.
  • Report job constraints such as: errors caused by workmanship, defects in parts, materials, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc., in accordance with company procedures.
  • Perform any repairs, rework, functional checks and the incorporation of authorized changes, etc., as outlined by Lead.
  • Remove and/or replace installed components and any related parts.
  • Must be able but not limited to Drill close tolerance holes in composites, Tool indexing, Gap measurement.
  • Read and understand blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering dispositions and instructions.
  • Be safety conscious; employ the use of safety glasses, safety harnesses, respirators, boot socks, and other pertinent safety equipment 100 of the time.
  • Exhibit exemplary housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards.
  • Maintain clean, neat, organized and FOD free work area.
  • Stand for long periods of time, and work in elevated and/or confined spaces as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, or Technical
  • Frequent overhead work may be required.
  • Frequent overtime may be required.
  • Possess understanding and knowledge of basic computer systems and programs.
  • Aerospace systems experience should include hydraulic, ICS, PECS, duct installation, IFE, interior decorative repair, waste and potable water systems.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds (Occasional lifting of 21-35 pounds), bend and twist at the waist, walk, crawl, crouch, stand for long periods, kneel, reach, climb/balance, flexion/extension
  • Contact with sealants and solvents, exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms
  • Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required.
  • Pass visual acuity and color perception tests
  • Experience understanding and interpreting detailed written and verbal work instructions and processes
  • Occasional (1 to 3 hrs) finger manipulation
  • On occasion, a 2-person lift may be necessary for weights greater than 50 lbs
  • Frequent reaching overhead (3 to 6 hrs)
  • Frequent walking on flat surfaces
  • Frequent standing flat or uneven surfaces
  • Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces
  • Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands
  • Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operate foot controls
  • Occasional contact with metals
  • Exposure to plastics and solvents to atmospheric conditions
  • Frequent exposure to noise
  • Must be able to work variable shifts - 1st, 2nd 3rd; Overtime is scheduled based on business needs and may include weekend hours
  • Assembly Process
    • Knowledge of assembly and production processes, manufacturing capabilities (e.g., composites, structures), and data needed for defining delivery configurations (e.g., design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, supplier data). Ability to differentiate production (manufacturing) processes and requirements from in-service procedures and requirements.
  • Certification & Qualification
    • Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.
  • Electrical Test
    • Knowledge of electrical test methodology (e.g., stand alone bench, automated, integration laboratory, simulation, functional test), planning, procedures, equipment (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope, bus analyzer, automated test systems) and result validation criteria (e.g., pass/fail, control limits, tolerances).
  • Electronics & Electro-Mech
    • Knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical assemblies and the ability to solve problems.
  • Engineering Drawings & Specs
    • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).
  • General Shop Processes
    • Complete knowledge of shop processes to include Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
  • General/Precision Test & Meas
    • Knowledge of electrical/electronic, general purpose and precision measuring test equipment (e.g., Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), multimeters, oscilloscopes, noise/bus/logic/spectrum analyzers, calipers, micrometers, etc.) and associated calibration requirements.
  • Hydraulic Power/Actuation Sys
    • Knowledge of hydraulic power systems equipment (e.g., pumps, accumulators, ram air turbines, distribution) and hydraulic actuation systems (e.g., servo actuators, control valves, actuators, motors, pressure and flow control devices) design, performance and integration.
  • Lean Manufacturing
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., value stream analysis, single piece flow).
    • Quality Systems Process
    • Knowledge of quality systems (e.g., inspection process, Boeing quality procedures).
  • Systems Thinking
    • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area.
    • This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
  • Troubleshooting
    • The ability to use established physical, mechanical, or scientific principles and perform appropriate tests to identify and solve problems encountered on the job.
    • This includes the ability to locate and isolate the problem, identify possible solutions, and select approaches that are practical and effective.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft applications such as
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated strong effective communication, work ethic and sense of urgency for completing assigned task/work.
  • Aviation experience or graduates from an aviation school
  • Experience understanding and interpreting detailed written and verbal work instructions and processes.
