A Technical Operations Quality Auditor ensures that our certificates (AMO, AOC and ATO) at WestJet continue to comply with regulatory and operational safety requirements. To this end, the individual will plan and perform internal and external audits, manage the full life-cycle of any findings, and support continuous improvement initiatives in support of the Quality Assurance and SMS programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform audits of all the functional areas within Technical Operations that are mandatory per Transport Canada regulations per Canadian Aviation Regulations 573.09 and 706.07;
  • Manage the full life-cycle of audit findings to ensure effective implementation of corrective action plans;
  • To ensure compliance and reduce operational risk, perform independent safety inspections, task observations and other monitoring activities to ensure legacy and new barriers remain effective;
  • Host external audits from regulatory authorities and third-party accreditation organizations;
  • Maintain audit checklists to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards;
  • Approve and monitor vendors and contract maintenance providers;
  • To enhance existing or develop new mitigations for identified hazards, perform Barrier reviews (using BowTie) relating to risks identified during investigations or in the Company or Department Hazard Registers.

Qualifications:

  • Transport Canada AME license or ICAO type II aircraft maintenance engineer license, or an engineering degree with at least 5 years of specific experience in aviation maintenance; or equivalent knowledge and experience;
  • Previous experience in an aviation technical operations environment such as maintenance, repair and overhaul, programs, reliability, planning and engineering;
  • Proven, expert working knowledge on Canadian Aviation Regulations;
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25;
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to quickly master the use of WestJet information platforms for maintenance, safety and compliance;
  • Must have an auditor course from an accredited organization delivering quality or compliance training.
