We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate, and hands-on individual to join our Testing team at San Carlos as Test Technician (Electromechanical). As part of the lab operations team, you will work closely with test engineers to execute testing related activities that support the development and certification efforts of Electromechanical equipment that are part of Environmental Control System and Pilot Inceptor system.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Test Engineers to understand testing activities needed to plan, develop and execute product testing
  • Participate in daily and weekly priority alignment meetings to stay in sync with changing needs of the business
  • Provide support in building, bring-up and commissioning of various test stands
  • Maintain test execution log and ensure that critical observations are properly documented and communicated to the broader team
  • When issues are encountered while executing test, aid in trouble shooting test stand and instrumentation
  • Responsible for ensuring test enabling equipment are in proper working condition and are calibrated as needed
  • Own Standard Operating Procedure for ElectroMechanical Test Platforms
  • Understand test execution requirements to be able to successfully complete development and qualification testing
  • Complete Acceptance testing and Environmental Stress Screening on flight intended hardware and record test raw data & summary in appropriate storage locations
  • Close out assigned Jira tickets for test and lab related activities
  • Procure and maintain necessary tools and hardware to keep testing area organized and efficient
  • Be the assigned area champion and embrace lab 5S philosophy and ensure that it is well maintained.
Required
  • Experience with general instrumentation such as thermocouple/ thermistor, accelerometer, strain gauges, wiring harness etc
  • Hands-on exposure to general electrical test equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscopes, Power analyzers, Hi-Pot tester etc
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical/mechanical or other issues related to test equipment
  • Exposure to environmental chambers including operation, maintenance and repair
  • Ability to maintain a positive can-do attitude and working with cross-functional team is a must
  • Experience in using hand/ power tools and perform other duties as assigned
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED
Desired
  • Prior experience performing FAA DO-160 testing or other regulatory testing
  • Prior experience handling HV equipment
  • Experience with Labview GUI for data acquisition
  • Prior experience with operating/ maintaining dynamometer or complex test platform
  • Prior HV experience (>400V)

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $36-$50/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
