Job title:  A & P Mechanic

Job Summary:  Inspect, troubleshoot & repair aircraft.
Location:  Ketchikan, Alaska.
Employee Type:  Contract.
Hours/Days:  40+ hours days can vary.
Shifts:  M-F 8–12 hour shifts (Day, Swing & Night).
Pay/hr:  $40-$45 Depending on experience.
Payment Method:  Weekly electronic deposit.
Benefits:  Company benefits offered after direct hire.
Bonuses:  $500 travel bonus plus airfare to Ketchikan.
Housing:  Provided 

 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • The A&P Mechanic reports to the Lead Mechanic.
  • Approves aircraft for return to service after scheduled or unscheduled maintenance for which he is authorized and qualified.
  • Keeps own work areas clean. Returns equipment and tools checked out at end of work shift and repositioned in assigned area.
  • Reports all inoperative or faulty equipment to the maintenance supervisor in charge.
  • Completes all paperwork for maintenance that is performed.
  • Ensures that hangar workshops, and other areas assigned are maintained in an orderly manner.
  • Assists the Maintenance Controller in maintaining technical manuals in a current status.
  • Maintains adequate general hand tools to properly perform his duties in accordance with FAR 43.13 appendix D.
  • Requires the ability to independently perform all of the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Skills:
 
Education:  High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Licenses:  FAA A & P Certified Mechanic.
Experience in years:  Five years minimum.
Aircraft experience:  DHC-2 or DHC-3 experience very helpful.  Experience with PT-6 and R-985 Engines helpful.
Skills & Abilities:  Must be physically able to stand and kneel for long periods, climb ladders and work in small, confined spaces.
Tools:  Mechanics are required to supply and track their own tools.
Language:  Mastery of the English language is required.
Pre-Employment Drug Screen:  Required before employment.
Background Check:  May be required.

Physical requirements:  Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job including the ability to climb up and down ladders, work in small spaces & lift 70 pounds safely.
