PURPOSE:

Maintains safe working conditions, as free from hazard as possible, and complies affirmatively with all company safety rules/policies.

Under limited direction, performs maintenance and repair work to maintain buildings, facilities, machines and equipment requiring an advanced knowledge of general trade skills, such as plumbing, welding, carpentry, sheet metal, heating and cooling, hydraulics, pneumatics and general electrical work.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs major machine overhauls, installations, relocations and modifications or repair by disassembling, repairing, cleaning and replacing parts as needed.
  • Reads and understands advanced drawings, layouts, instructions and schematics.
  • Maintains buildings to include the repair of windows, doors, roofs, floors, and stairways construct shop partitions, bins, racks, etc.
  • Repairs tools, fixtures, bench and hand powered tools and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Lubricates production, tool and facility equipment following established lubrication schedules, procedures and materials.
  • Replaces electrical switches, fuses, small motors, pulleys, belts, lights etc.
  • Computer literate
  • Documents, records and maintains files of work performed on machinery.
  • Procures requisitioned parts and materials from local suppliers and vendors as needed.
  • Performs related work requiring equal or lesser skill as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to the Maintenance supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Requires ability to read and write (legibly) and to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Two years of vocational or trade school to learn basic and specialized trade theories and applications including reading and interpreting schematics, mechanical and architectural prints, and utilization of shop and trade experience.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, millwright, hydraulic, heating and cooling systems, and related maintenance activities
