Job SummaryThis position functions as NAV CANADA national mechanical installation and maintenance technical authority for designated mechanical HVAC systems and equipment. Provides technical authoritative oversight for all life-cycle aspects of NAV CANADA mechanical maintenance HVAC systems including the planning and organization of the life-cycle management of mechanical HVAC systems and associated equipment to ensure their reliable, continuous and uninterrupted operation is available to ANS operational systems, equipment, and facilities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Acts as NAV CANADA national mechanical installation and maintenance technical authority for designated mechanical HVAC systems and equipment. Contributes technical expertise in the implementation and management of related equipment, HVAC systems and mechanical life-cycle maintenance initiatives.
  •  Provides life-cycle support for the operation and maintenance of designated NAV CANADA mechanical HVAC systems and associated equipment; contributes technical expertise and support in the implementation and ongoing monitoring of NAV CANADA mechanical maintenance program policies, procedures, and directives.
  •  Functions as the technical authority in the development of mechanical HVAC systems design standards and technical guidelines.
     

Job Requirements

Education:

  • A recognized diploma in mechanical engineering technology, and/or equivalent experience, in the field of mechanical HVAC systems in Canada.
  • Mechanical trade certification at the Journeyman level is an asset.
  • Mechanical trade certification at the Red Seal level is an asset.

Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in mechanical HVAC systems including, but not limited to: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, boilers, chillers, and cooling.
  • Significant work experience in mechanical construction and/or service field.

Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the federal, provincial and local regulatory codes and practices relevant to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of mechanical HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance programs and system issues.

Abilities:

  • Ability to prepare standards and details for the selection, installation, commissioning and maintenance of HVAC systems and related components.
  • Staying continually updated on relevant aspects of mechanical HVAC systems technology and trends related to the design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mechanical HVAC systems and equipment.

Working conditions:

  • This position is based at Ottawa Technical Services Centre but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
  • Occasional Travel Required.
