This is an Alternate Work Week position: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Must be in position for 12 months before being able to post to other positions.

Job Summary: These positions require working on the production line to inspect blades and vanes as well as performing over-inspects for operators. These positions require shift work and ability to work overtime when needed.  Inspector Level 1: The inspector will work to obtain a DX and NDT inspection stamp. They will be able to perform basic inspection functions such as blueprint interpretation, use of basic hand gauges and understanding technical standards. The basic operations include training to become an FPI (fluorescent penetrant inspection), X-Ray, Etch, Ultrasonic or CT (computerized tomography) Scan inspector. This position will require performing routine operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs non-destructive inspection (NDI) such as FPI/ X-RAY/ Etch/ Ultrasonic and CT scan based on qualifications, performs cleaning and inspection of aircraft components according to customers specifications, airworthiness directives, applicable manufacturers CMM guidelines and operating procedures and identifies structural and material defects, interprets test results, completes test reports and presents findings
  • Maintains NDT equipment, maintains current knowledge of and complies with customer/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Joint Aviation Administration (JAA) technical data as applicable to the work assigned and maintains proper segregation and identification of components in progress
  • Familiarity with plant tools, equipment, blueprints and inspection gauges: Follows procedures to perform in-line checks and verification of dimensions, to ensure appropriate documentation, and to make sure that process steps are being followed, interprets engineering technical data, such as manufacturing or part drawings, to provide guidance to cross functional teams, uses a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments including automated measuring, performs Solumina required job audits for OpCert surveillance and performs OpCert over-inspects, as required
  • Bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, train other inspectors to perform work tasks and provides technical support and maintain a strong working relationship with the operations team
  • Detailed NDT inspection cert is required at the conclusion of training.
  • Responsibilities are not limited to the listed items above and can be changed or modified based on skill level, proficiency, and overall performance. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • 3+ years of experience working a Quality or related technical role within a manufacturing/ production facility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a Pratt and Whitney inspection NDT stamp in one specific category
  • Understanding of conventional Quality related inspection, NDT, CMM, calibration and other machine shop inspection process and procedures
  • Understanding of Aerospace Quality requirements
