Non-Destructive Inspection Technician (NDI) II, WG-3705-10: Inspects aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis. Determines test method, and prepares fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection. Interprets nondestructive inspection test results, and provides information about defects to repair center. Analyzes wear metal content on engine lubricating oil and other fluids, and recommends corrective action. Establishes radiation areas for radiographic operations. Computes and monitors personal exposure areas for radiographic operations, and monitors personnel exposure data. Performs nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems. Detects flaws such as cracks, de-laminations, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic test equipment. Determines metallurgical information of components according to alloy, temper, conductivity, and associated factors. Operates, maintains, and inspects nondestructive equipment. Performs operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools. Ensures lock out and tag out procedures are accomplished prior to maintenance on equipment. Performs silver recovery functions. Handles and disposes of hazardous waste and materials. Completed initial Non Destructive Inspection Training Course and maintains basic qualification.

 

Skill and Knowledge:

  Shall have the ability to perform Non-Destructive Inspections on various aircraft, aircraft components and sub-components in support of Organizational Level maintenance.

 

Responsibility:

   Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Specifically performs scheduled and unscheduled NDI inspections on Customs Border Protection (CBP) aircraft IAW the designated maintenance manuals. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives.  Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.

 

 

Task Requirements:

 

  • Performs duties as Non Destructive Inspection Technician on P-3 aircraft in support of Aircraft Division.
  • Performs Non-Destructive Inspections in support of aircraft Organizational Level maintenance functions utilizing, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particles, Ultrasonic Testing and Radiographic Testing.
  • Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers manuals / specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Out of country travel may be required for this position.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • 20 years’ experience and 15 years’ experience supporting P-3 and/or EP-3E aircraft.
  • Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Level III qualification for Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particles, Ultrasonic Testing and Radiographic Testing disciplines.
  • 8 years experience with the application and use of technical data and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent.
  • 3 years of documented aircraft supervisory experience.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years’ additional education and/or related experience.
  • Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Level II qualification for Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particles, Ultrasonic Testing and Radiographic Testing disciplines.
  • 3 years NDI experience
  • A minimum of 4 years experience on P-3 or similar platform.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.
  • A current U.S. passport, accept period time away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.
  • Ability to obtain CBP Secret clearance

 

Compensation

$42.80/hour

 

Other Compensation

Employees that waive medical insurance receive an opt-out payment of $2.00 per hour paid to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Employees are able to enroll in KAI’s 401k plan.  Employees accrue 3.07 hours of vacation and 2.15 hours of personal paid time per pay period. Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
