Job Description:
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes staffs, controls and directs the Quality Assurance Department
- Promotes aviation safety by ensuring airworthy and quality aircraft maintenance and serves as liaison between FAA and Repair Station
- Develops and maintains approved FAA accepted Repair Station/Quality Control Manual (RSM/QCM)
- Assures all FAA, other federal regulations, and state and local laws are adhered to, as applicable
- Develops and administers the company’s quality systems.
- Develops strategic plans for continuous improvement of quality
- Administers Vendor Audit Programs
- Provides for the requirements of The Training Program including recordkeeping requirements
- Serves as Quality Management System, Management Representative who has the authority to:
- Ensure that processes needed for the quality management system are establish, implemented, and maintained
- Reports on the performance of the quality management system to top management for review of its effectiveness and as a basis for improvement of the quality system.
- Responsible for the Corrective Action Program, designed to detect a nonconformance or undesirable condition, correct it and prevent its recurrence.
- Responsible for approval, addition and/or deletion of Services and material supplier vendors. May delegate to Materials
Manager but retains responsibility
- Controls Inspector/Production/Training Stamp program and maintains the Repair Station rosters
- Determines criteria used for Repairman Eligibility, such as testing, performance evaluations etc.
- Recommends qualified individuals for Repairman’s Certificate.
- Maintains Summaries of Employment for all management, inspection and certificated personnel
- Monitors performance and attendance of Quality Assurance and Quality Control personnel.
- Prepares and conducts performance evaluations, recommends personnel action, including salary recommendations, per company policy for assigned personnel.
- Ensures that employee assigned to perform each task have documented training
- Is final authority for returning aircraft to service after strip, paint, flight control installation and balance, weight check requirements and other processes authorized on the Repair Station’s Op Spec
- Ensures Corrective/Preventive Actions relating to his/her assigned processes and procedure, are initiated and/or completed in a timely manner as required by the Quality Management System.
- May delegate authority, but retains responsibility
Requirements
- A&P Certified (current)
- 5 years Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control experience
- 10 years aircraft mechanic experience preferred on regional and large commercial type aircraft
- Proven leadership skills and operations experience with line and or heavy maintenance programs
- Computer skills and ability to manage/update company manuals as required
