Taquan Air is seeking seasonal (March through September) Airframe and Power Plant mechanics to join our team and help maintain our Beaver and Otter fleet. Taquan Air offers extremely competitive pay, housing for the seasonal period, transportation to and from work, an Airline ticket from your home to Ketchikan, and Taquan Air will also ship your tools.

Summary of essential job functions, responsibilities, and duties:

  • Maintain De Havilland Beavers and Turbine Otters.
  • Perform Phase inspections on company aircraft.
  • Follow all company manuals and adhere to all applicable 14 CFRs, company policies and procedures, and the Safety Management System (SMS) program.
  • Conduct inspections, troubleshoot and fix line discrepancies, and keep company aircraft operating efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain a clean and friendly working environment.
  • Pass pre-employment and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Possess an adequate set of tools.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Possess Airframe and Power Plant certificates.
  • Possess a Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to learn various computer software systems.
  • Be an active participant in our SMS program.
  • Must be able to take and follow directions well.
  • Excellent communication skills including listening, oral and written communication, attention to detail, and responsiveness to various needs of the team and organization.
  • Ability to perform within a team environment, interact, and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to learn and become familiar with company aircraft and instructions for continued airworthiness.
  • Problem-solving and independent strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure within a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently while remaining flexible and organized.
  • Be able to balance changing priorities and multitask projects, while continuously reassessing and reprioritizing projects based upon the direction and supervision of the Shift Lead and Director of Maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills- must have a good sense of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills including listening, oral and written communication, attention to detail, and responsiveness to various needs of the team and organization.
  • Must be able to deal with interruptions and maintain efficiency.
  • May be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, paint, or fuel odors.
  • Be able to perform activities such as: standing, sitting, squatting, walking, bending, and stretching for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Must be able to lift items from elevated levels (< 40 lbs.) as required by job duties.
