The Agile Delivery Manager for our Defence modernisation program is responsible for planning, leading, organising and motivating cyber security teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in the delivery of outcomes that provide exceptional value to end users and customers. The Agile Delivery Manager may be responsible for managing several concurrent high visibility projects or solutions via a blend of agile and waterfall delivery methods in a fast-paced, complex, demanding environment that may involve multiple business units.
Job Outline:
• Support the Cyber Head of Delivery in key ceremonies such as PI planning and play a consultative role to help put in place the appropriate people, processes, and tools supporting the Delivery framework and coaching members of the team as needed to optimise the efficiency of the Department.
• Act as a Champion in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile approach in the right proportions to fit initiatives and projects of all sizes with the appropriate level of planning and provide the right balance of agility and predictability.
• Have strong Risk and Issue management skills and experience, including the ability to proactively identify, assess and mitigate potential challenges, ensuring smooth project execution.
• Delivery the pre-implementation (ideation, tendering, evaluation, contracting, approval process) and technology implementation phases of a project or solution end to end and be well versed and experienced in all aspects
• Know how to build plan, working with Product managers and architects to define the definition of done, establishing the milestones to get the project to completion whilst effectively manging and reporting on the overall status of the solution or project through clear and accurate reporting standards.
• Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame or retribution, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving. Protect the team and provide support using a servant leadership style whenever possible and lead by example. Facilitate getting the work done and encourage discussion, decision making and help to resolve conflicts.
• Drive Quality and ensure the feature and milestone Definition of Done (DOD) is being followed, ensure each team member is fully engaged in their stories and that they are making meaningful contributions. Encourage a sustainable pace adhering to the agreed quality management plan.
• Assist in team development through holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work, leveraging cross functional team skills to improve product backlog throughput, and mentoring and developing team members. Attend regular stand-ups and scrum of scrums, in order to understand the teams progress and issues, and to flag up to the team, where necessary, any important external issues of which they need to be aware.
• Support the Technical Product Manager in managing business expectations and transparency in both product backlog and schedule for all initiatives.
• Define and manage a well-defined process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Delivery Management. Implement agile governance with key ceremonies, drive continuous improvement with constant assessments of velocity (team story point throughput), defect percentage improvements etc.
• Assist with the cost estimation / sizing exercise for both near term and future initiatives and assist with preparing total cost of ownership with the product team.
• Together with the Product team, supports the RFx phases in the procurement process and the scheduling of such activities in relation to the product lifecycle.
