Job Description:

Purpose of Position
The Assistant Director, Operations is an aviation professional and skilled pilot with extensive background in the day-to-day operational demands of a responsive, Part 91/135 organization. Reports to and assists the VP, Operations / Director of Operations in managing the Operations Department and ensuring all flight operations are conducted at the highest level of safety and in full compliance with EJM and FAA regulations, policies, and procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Assists the VP, Operations / Director of Operations in the daily support of the Operations Department including, but not limited to, Chief Pilots and Chief Flight Attendant, Flight Operations Center, Training, Standards, Schedule Planning, Flight Technical Programs, Document Control, Pilots, and Flight Attendants.Duties include, but are not limited, to on-call responsibility supporting daily and future flights, project management, policy and process development, compliance, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Assists the Chief Pilot and VP, Operations / Director of Operations with management, distribution and delivery of policy, standard operational procedures (SOP), aeronautical information, safety standards, and training elements.Regularly performs auditing of the operating system to ensure all flight operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policy.
  • Responsible for the content of and compliance with the company General Operations and Maintenance Manual (GOMM), Regulations (domestic and foreign), Operations Specifications (OpSpecs), flight manuals, checklists, and other pertinent information. Has operational control in accordance with 14 CFR 135.77 as designated by the Director of Operations.
  • Supports regionalized groups (e.g., Regional Chief Pilot, Owner Service Vice President, Sales VP, Talent Partners, Maintenance VPs) and other internal departments.Regional support includes but is not limited to the following activities: recruiting, interviewing, account onboarding, day-to-day operations, employee management, account management, training, and crewmember advocacy. Support may require travel to meet with accounts and/or crewmembers throughout the United States.
  • Partners with other leaders within EJM to plan and implement processes and strategies that lead to continuous improvements to uphold company goals. Safety, Service, Team, and Finance.
  • Performs flight crewmember and check pilot duties in support of account management.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP, Operations / Director of Operations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAOs)
  • Must meet EJM PIC Minimum Requirements
  • Previous part 135 PIC experience required
  • Previous experience as a flight operations manager in a 14 CFR, part 91/135 air carrier, preferred
  • Ability to meet the Management Personnel requirements of FAR 119.69 & 119.71 in addition to the appropriate currency and proficiency requirements of FAR 135/91 and/or equivalent military experience
  • At least 10 years industry work experience
  • Business acumen to work with multiple & high-level priorities with different department, OEMs, owners, and crewmembers.
  • Analytical ability to evaluate data and information to make operational decision
  • Ability to solve complex problems while exercising strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, and on scheduled company holidays to accommodate the needs of the business · Available to be on-call 24/7 with company provided communication device
  • Extensive knowledge of FARs, ACs, 8900, and ICAO regulations and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computers including Microsofts suite of applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal aptitude
  • Ability to react to changing priorities and to manage, schedule and prioritize work to meet required objectives and timelines.
  • May be required to obtain a new FAA Type rating
  • Ability to travel up to 25
  • Large cabin international experience, preferred
