Job Summary

Under the limited supervision of the Director, Commercial Program Management, is responsible for driving the commercial management and performance of the business areas of concessions (food & beverage, retail, services), parking, rental cars, ground transportation, advertising and sponsorships, vending, passenger services, and other revenue-generating non-airline services at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Allegheny County Airport (AGC).

 

Here is how the Business Manager, Commercial Programs will help:  

  • Manage the day-to-day relationship between the Authority and various business partners associated with concessions, parking, rental cars, ground transportation, advertising and sponsorships, vending, passenger services, and other businesses. Resolve management, tenant, and customer complaints, ensuring an excellent customer experience at PIT and AGC.
  • Ensure each business partners’ offer, merchandising, and operating hours are appropriately aligned with passenger flows, flight schedules, sales patterns, reasons for purchase, and buying behaviors.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement strategy, communications & marketing plans in conjunction with the Communications & Brand department, designed to identify and capture new business opportunities to maximize the utilization and revenue from the Airport Authority&39;s terminal and facility space at PIT and AGC.
  • Manage contractual compliance routines, processes, and procedures to ensure the   quality and reliability of services provided by and to commercial business partners.
  • Manage the advancement of the parking and ground transportation strategy at PIT and AGC to ensure a positive passenger experience while maximizing revenue generation and product development at the airport. 
  • Manage parking agreements to ensure compliance with contract provisions and service delivery.
  • Manage concession license agreement terms to ensure complete compliance and verify contract specifics such as pricing, merchandise delivery, store standards, customer service, and airport provide services; create corrective action plans when appropriate.
  • Provide guidance to store managers on the esthetics of the overall shopping experience, including general retailing standards.
  • Manage relationships associated with the advertising and sponsorship strategy.
  • Create, disseminate, and present non-aeronautical revenue trend analyses and forecasts in partnership with other teams and colleagues.
  • Recommend policies that directly and indirectly have an impact on commercial performance.
  • Organize monthly airport business partner meetings as necessary.
  • Work closely with tenants and business partners to ensure their continued success by reviewing short- and long-term plans and their financial/market position.
  • Research relevant market and business trends to assist in forecasting future business activity and assists in developing recommendations for the Director, Commercial Program Management.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.

Qualifications

 Requirements to apply for role of Business Manager, Commercial Programs are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Public Administration, Aviation Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5 years related experience at the managerial level in commercial development, airport environment experience preferred.
  • Possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid driver’s license. Note: license must be maintained throughout employment.

 

We also expect that candidates will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in most cases:  

  • Extensive knowledge of the policies, practices and techniques of commercial management and administration, Pennsylvania economic development and related agencies, procedures and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of the policies, practices, and techniques of commercial business performance and revenue generation.
  • Considerable ability to function independently and exercise considerable judgment in the resolution of problems and/or coordination of commercial development activities.
  • Extensive organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Considerable interpersonal skills; tactful, mature, fair and consistent
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • Ability to negotiate and manage contracts.
  • Ability to travel 5.
  • Ability to establish the maintain effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
