In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administrations (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. Honeywell FM&Ts culture of integrity, commitment and continuous improvement enables them to deliver responsive, collaborative, and innovative management and technology services and products that translate into cutting edge solutions to complex national security issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Director of Strategic Communications reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and Communications and is responsible for all communications functions at Honeywell FM&T that include internal, external and customer communications, brand and community affairs, the protocol office, and digital media. This role is responsible to establish and direct the strategy and staff for all communications functions supporting Honeywell FM&T. This leader will work closely with the FM&T leadership team as a trusted advisor as well as coordinate communications with on-site NNSA Federal partners, Department of Energy (DOE) customers and our Honeywell parent company.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 26 employees that include 5 people leaders.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual communication strategy in support of the FM&T mission and strategic objectives.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders and government partners.
  • Manage the FM&T brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms.
  • Manage media relations and develop contacts with media members (local and industry), influencers and community leaders in strong partnership with our Government Relations Office.
  • Directs FM&T Community Affairs efforts and oversees relationships with community stakeholders and investments.
  • Direct the creation of digital, video, audio and print content and track engagement across various platforms.
  • Ensure the organization is perceived as a leader with customers and peers from other companies (via industry engagements, speaking opportunities, awards) and internally (transparent communications, recognition, education, visibility).
  • Direct the team for event management for the KCNSC.
  • Drive measurements to demonstrate effectiveness of communications programs.
  • Demonstrate high business acumen and best in class communications platforms and approaches.

 

You Must Have:

  • Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field.
  • 10+ years experience in corporate communications or related experience, including 2+ years experience in directly managing a team.
  • Ability to travel up to 10 of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
