The Director, Investor Relations will help lead the investor relations team at American.  Working closely with internal partners (Senior Leadership, Financial Planning, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, Commercial, and Communications) to develop external messaging and reporting to ensure external stakeholders have a clear understanding of American’s plans and execution against those plans.

What youll do
  • Develops, maintains, and improves relationships and communications between the Company and its shareholders, the investing public, and other members of the financial community
  • Coordinates the Company’s quarterly earnings process, including collaborating with senior leadership, preparing financial guidance, and developing prepared remarks
  • Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, including leaders in Finance, Accounting, Legal, Communications, Commercial, Operations, Sustainability, and other organizations
  • Leads ad-hoc projects, analyses, and presentations related to the Company’s investor relations activities

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Finance, Accounting or related) or equivalent knowledge/experience; Advanced Degree preferred 
  • 7 years of progressive experience in leadership roles, overseeing large workgroups with cross-functional teams; experience with airline workgroups preferred 
  • Experience in Airline Finance and/or Investor Relations preferred
  • Knowledge of SEC regulations pertaining to publicly traded companies
  • Deep understanding of the airline business, competitive environment, and airline economics
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with all levels, internally and externally, both verbally and written
  • Action-oriented, results-driven, leader 
  • Ability to think strategically, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisions
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills and build collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders with varying points of view
  • Exceptional planning, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking ability 
  • Demonstrated ability to create a culture of continuous improvement that is open, respectful, and thrives on diversity and trust
  • Ability to travel extensively
