Job Summary

The HR Director will partner with the Passenger/Ground Service LOB and leverage the expertise of their local HR management team, the collective HR Department and others to develop people strategies that mitigate risk and move the business forward. Additionally, this role will partner with the corporate HR functions to ensure the execution of HR programs and initiatives.

Job functions include both oversight and active involvement with employee relations issues, investigations, HR strategy and execution, and talent management, as well as providing guidance on company policies, practices and the CBA, as warranted. This position reports to the VP, of Employee Relations.

Responsibilities
  • Leads, supports, and develops a team of experienced HR professionals.  Manage day-to-day statement of work, outlines development and growth opportunities. and provides timely, actional feedback, as needed.  Ensure team operates with a sense of urgency and proactively solves problems and are committed to thoroughness and high quality. 
  • Collaborates with business leaders to develop and execute people strategies that increase organizational and individual performance that align with business goals. 
  • Provides support and guidance to HR Managers, Human Resources, field operational leaders, and Legal regarding complex and/or sensitive inquiries related to collective bargaining matters, HR policies, and state regulations. 
  • Leads or supports organizational change management strategies (small and large scale) and efforts to drive successful implementation of key initiatives. 
  • Builds and maintains relationships with the operations leadership team to understand the overall strategic business needs that support not talent and workforce management strategies  - right people, in the right role, at the right time.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and drive initiatives that support and reinforce a collaborative, aligned and growing culture.
  • Conducts high-risk investigations and recommends discipline of employees in accordance with company policy and the governing collective bargaining process; supports the HR Managers with investigations as needed.
  • Provides oversight and guidance of the performance management process in support of the HR Manager and operational leaders.
  • Works closely with the compensation team regarding total reward trends in salaries/wages, incentive pay programs, and benefits to assist the organization in attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Maintains compliance and knowledge of labor and employment laws, including trends, best practices, regulatory changes.
  • Provide data-driven insights and information that support key human capital decisions. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Masters degree in Human Resources or Business Administration is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of human resource management experience.
  • Management of staff experience required.
  • Industry-specific (ground handling,  transportation, logistics, cargo, etc.,) experience preferred. 
  • SHRM-CP, PHR or SPHR, SHRM-SCP highly desired.

  • Ability to travel overnight on short notice.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations facilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Remain in a stationary position 50 of the time.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Walk short distances.
  • Reach above and/or below shoulder.
  • Handle/grasp documents or office equipment.
  • Sit and/or stand for short or extended periods of time.
  • Lift/carry/move objects, files and documents up to 10 pounds.
  • Work in an office environment using standard office equipment.
  • Talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone and present to others (virtually and in person).
