Job Description
The Life Cycle Materiel Manager liaises directly with the customer on component and system technical issues and ensures that all materiel support activities are conducted according to approved policy and procedures while reflecting an awareness of the customer’s requirements. This position is a technical manager; a non-leadership management level position.
Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
Major Responsibilities & Duties
- Strive to consistently act in a manner in which reflects Cascade Aerospace’s culture and values.
- Maximizes the ongoing effectiveness, efficiency and economy of their assigned materiel through a co-coordinated effort from all departments.
- Responsible for materiel support activities that span the four distinct managerial life cycle stages.
- Support continuing maintenance requirements for mechanical systems and equipment: spares requirements, test equipment requirements, special support equipment requirements, technical publication requirements and continued airworthiness requirements.
- Apply principles of Life Cycle Management in performing equipment/systems support activities.
- Be a technical expert for the equipment/systems.
- Maintain an overall knowledge of materiel acquisition and support functions.
- Maintain liaison, at appropriate levels, with other staffs with which they share management responsibilities (supply and procurement).
- Maintain an overall knowledge of the capability and capacity of support facilities (for modification, repairs and overhaul) including:
- Workshops, bases and units
- Contractors, manufactures and supplies
- Engineering Test Establishments and other government facilities.
- Maintain an overall currency in the state-of-the-art for their areas of responsibility.
- Experience in disposing of material designated as "controlled goods" or "controlled technology”.
- Implement actions to re-establish project performance to meet targets.
- Advise management on issues of concern.
- Provide LCM support to internal and external customers.
- Respond to and oversee the responses of others, to requests for engineering support from Cascade Aerospace or external customers.
- Participate in the administrative activities of the department including following and working to develop new administrative practices and procedures.
- Become familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace’s Human Resources, safety and security policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.

Education
A secondary school degree or diploma in a related field, the completion of an acceptable accredited technologist level program related to mechanical systems at a technical institution, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience
Minimum 2 years recent experience (within the last 10 years) working on modern, complex highly integrated aircraft mechanical systems in one or more of the following areas:
- Flight guidance and control systems
- Secure network systems
- Electro-optical or infrared systems
- Simulators and trainers
- Mechanical systems such as Environmental Control Systems, Auxiliary Power Units, Powerplant systems, and/or hydraulic systems
- Equipment Life Cycle Management (LCM)
- ADAM and/or DRMIS
- Canadian Forces Supply System
- Technical investigations
