Job Summary

The Manager Material Stores invests in our Purpose by developing and providing leadership to Material Specialists and Supervisors in a shop environment. This role is responsible for the daily performance and operation of aircraft parts and tooling in support of aircraft maintenance. The Material Stores Manager is a strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the daily operation of Material Stores, providing management support to Stores Supervisors and Material Specialists
  • Provide support to Maintenance and all Outstations, coordinate material movements for all special projects and vendor outsourcing
  • Write and revise stockroom procedures, MPM Stores procedures for Material Specialists, and ensure Stores Supervisors and Material Specialists meet mandatory training requirements
  • Monitor all areas of Stores and ensure compliance with SWA company policies, Maintenance Procedures Manual, FAA regulations, DOT/OSHA requirements and contractual agreements
  • Ensure the movements of all aircraft parts and material system-wide, for allocations and AOG&39;s Monitor and successful execution of Material Stores (KPI) Key Performance Indicators
  • Monitor Material Stores security and controlled access areas
  • Ensure inventory levels are accurate and properly stored
  • Oversee the Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly Auditing Program
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employees Leaders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, Leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of People and resources
  • Skilled in communicating effectively, both oral and written, and have the ability to speak in group situations
  • Skilled in computer skills and ability to utilize department software
  • Skilled in recognizing a problem, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in monitoring and assessing the performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Skilled in bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to lead and mentor a diverse group of People
  • Ability to design and layout the stockroom and warehouse to operate in an efficient manner
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a Team and work under stressful situations

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading Team(s)
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
    • Material Stores, warehousing, stock room, or inventory management experience
    • Union Contract and Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement
    • Leadership

Licensing/Certification
  • N/A

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to move/transport 75 lbs. on an occasional basis (under 50)
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles/equipment
  • Ability to raise 75 lbs. on an occasional basis (under 50)

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to obtain a drivers license
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, work holidays, and weekends

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $118,600 to $131,800 per year * depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
